After the disappointment of being evacuated fro Great Yarmouth in November, I was well up for this singles event. A lot of players had dropped out for this rearranged fixture and I have to admit I think it was wrong the singles wasn't redrawn, with some players receiving byes into round 3!
I played in R1 against a tour player, Julie Mackintosh. She stormed into a 3-0 lead and I wasn't really getting into the swing of it until I won my first to go 1-3, but then Julie went to 4-1. I really picked my game up at that stage and ended up clinching victory 5-4 with some good play.
R2 saw me against Effie Freebody, who by admission said she was no pool player. To be fair she could pot a ball from anywhere but I took the match with a score of 5-1. Liz Disney was next up in R3 and we both seemed to struggle a little but she edged it 5-4. I was a little bit disappointed but played well and had good practice for the team event!!
