ladies tour

Tour 4:
15th & 16th September, Hull

Main: (R2) Final: Sue Thompson 7-5 Carly Smith
Plate: (Last 16) Final: Jackie Baker 5-3 Amy Coley

I'd had a good week in practice and had won 2/2 in my Thursday league so was confident going into my first round match against Rebecca Osborne. I was 3-0 up in a flash and didn't miss much, although Bex was unlucky on a few shots which went in off. In the end I took the match 5-2 and was very happy with my performance.

Emma Cunningham, who had won Tour 3 and come runner up in the Worlds, was my opponent in round 2. I wasn't nervous going into the match I just played my own game. The final scoreline was a 5-1 loss but I was still pleased with how I played... Emma's finishing was just too good for me!

I went on to the last 16 of the plate with a 4-0 win over Jan Purdy, before Hazel Dabrowski knocked me out 4-1. I had a ridiculous in off the black to go 3-1 behind when it should have been 2 all.... but overall I felt I'd had a successful day and finally seem to be getting my form back!

Next up is Miscues @ Barnsley on October 20th & 21st where I face Lyndsey Roberts in R1.

Won 28-16

Although the ladies final scoreline was good, we should have done better given West Midlands only had 9 players for the match. With 2 byes a round we still lost the first leg 6-5, but picked up to take an important victory in what is essentially now a race for second spot. Lucy Keatley-Lill was thrilled to take the player of the match award after winning maximum frames. Chris Kirk, Carolyn Bowkett and Sarah Day all scored 3 from 4.

I also got 3/4 including a bye... my last game was a bit scrappy and could have gone either way. I missed a long pot to get onto the black and my red went safe with my opponent having her last 2 balls over pockets. I feel like I'm getting back on track now though and certainly felt more confident at the table!
