Lost 29-15
It was a disappointing end to the season for the ladies, trounced by a Staffordshire team who showed exactly why they are consistently R3 champions. After taking only one frame in the first leg, we managed to keep it tight in the middle two sets but the damage was already done. Teresa Blair put in an outstanding performance to win maximum frames and the player of the match award, while captain Chris Kirk secured her name on the player of the season trophy by scoring two from four. Both Chris and Emma Senior, who also scored two, are still in the reckoning for England trial places.
We look forward now to the new season where we kick off against Derbyshire in February, with the possibility of a strengthened squad and a realistic chance to push for the title! Thanks to all the players for their valuable contributions this year, when we have struggled with the bare 11... But let’s come back stronger in 2008 and make it a season to remember!!
