The ladies started the day only 9 points clear of second spot rivals Shropshire. Captain Chris Kirk decided to shuffle a few players after the disappointment of the Notts match and it worked to our advantage as we took a first leg lead. But our opponents were to be no push-overs and matched us in the second leg to pull it back. The score was close right until the end of the third leg when we started to pull away with a 21-16 lead and whereas last match we couldn't quite finish it, this time we nailed the victory with frames to spare.
Samantha Biddlecombe won maximum frames and the POTM award for the second successive match, while Chris Kirk and Julie Tailby won 3 apiece. I also got 3 on the board which was pleasing as every frame counts towards trials now. I played well, better than I have at county for a while, and was a little unclucky not to get 4 after the black somehow didn't drop in even though it was hanging on the pocket.
