End of year report

I have had a great year at County finishing 7th in the Region and qualifying for England team trials in March 2007. I narrowly missed out on 'Player of the season' by dropping frames in the last match... but it was tight at the top and to finish 3rd after being a regular reserve last year, and collecting 4 'Lady of the match' awards along the way, is a great achievement. The big disappointment for the team though was to miss out on the National Inter-County finals by finishing in 3rd place behind Staffs & Notts. To win and draw against National Champions Staffs shows we are good enough so lets make 2007 the year to take the Regional title!

I was hoping to do well at the National Ladies Championships but let myself down by losing in the first round 5-4... after being 4-1 up! I went on to reach the quarter finals of the plate competition, eventually being knocked out by Notts and England player Debbie Fowkes-Birchell, who I had done the double over at County.

Coalville's 'Top Blokes' league has been a steep learning curve for me having entered twice and finishing bottom on both occasions!! But the standard of play is excellent and even though it can be a bit depressing to lose week in week out, I know it has improved my game no end, which was the reason I wanted to be involved!

I can't say too much about the Tuesday night pool league as I only joined halfway through the season. I won 7 out of 13 played to the season close, and with the new season starting in January I will be hoping to get my average up as there is a trophy to play for!

Moving into 2007, I will be looking to get myself some silverware... County player of the season is my main aim, as well as the County championships! To do better in every game I play and to make my opponents beat me rather than me giving it away is an absolute must. I have entered the Ladies Tour which I am very much looking forward to, and who knows... I might even win myself some money out of it!

Thanks to everyone who has supported me over the year!!

CPL cup match

The last match of 2006 was the second round of the Coalville Trophy Centre KO cup against Charnwood Club. It was our second visit to the Charnwood in 2 weeks and after their 6-1 thrashing over us in the league, we knew we were up against it.

We were a player short again so straight off the bat they were 1 up, but I won the first frame and we took the singles legs 3-2 with the doubles to play. They got it back to 3 all but we managed to scrape the last doubles to take the match 4-3!

This was a nice way to end the year after seeing us fall to second bottom in the league after playing the 3 big boys in successive weeks... lets hope 2007 is a bit more fruitful!

County championships

I was really looking forward to this as I thought I stood a good chance in the singles, but after making the journey all the way from Yorkshire to be there, I ended up being beaten by Steph in the first round 3-1! I had taken the first frame but Steph played some excellent attacking safety and was clearing up well, whereas I was missing pots I would usually knock in for fun! Steph went on to take the title after playing well all day!

I started on the beer then.... and failed to pull any kind of performance out in the doubles which we lost 3-0, and felt bad for my partner Donna who played well.

The mixed went no better... in fact I can only remember having one shot in the match where I nearly went in off... and my partner Ferret wasn't much use either as he was in a worse state than me! We lost 3-0!

Oh well, the day itself was a good laugh so all was not lost! Maybe next year.....!!

cpl league match

We got another hammering this week by Engine A 6-1. I was disappointed with my game, I seem to be making life difficult for myself with every shot I play at the minute, and then miss easy pots to boot.

At least we have got the 3 big boys out of the way now! We need to start picking some points up now in the New Year, it's the CTC next week against Charnwood Club....!

tuesday night league

It was the last match of the season this week and we were up against the 147 'D', or the girls team as affectionately known! We won convincingly 9-1 although Julie was unlucky to lose to me after going in off the black.

I'm not sure what league position we finished in the end as our closest rivals opposition didn't turn up apparently which may have cost us 2nd spot!

cpl league matches

The Charnwood Club hammered us 6-1 this week, we were a player short but this might not have made any real difference to the result anyway as they are a good up and coming team and should finish in the top 3 again this season without any trouble.

We've got the Engine A next week so that will be the top 3 out of the way!

Ronnie was the only one to win and has gone top of our team rankings!!

cpl top blokes

Last week saw me play Jason Smith, who was the only person below me in the table on leg difference, so I was aware that this fixture was probably the one to determine who would finish bottom of the pile. It was a funny old match with the pair of us making silly mistakes, I went into a 4-1 lead before letting it slip to being 5-4 down. I managed to win the 10th frame so a decider would settle the match, but unfortunately I lost 6-5, and as Sarah can't play due to illness Jasonw as awarded with a 6-0 for that as well and is now 4 points clear of me.

The penultimate week's matches last night were against Judd and Wink. Judd is an excellent young player and is destined for big things, so to go 2 all was great, until I lost the next 4 in a row!! My concentration slipped a bit against Wink and after a solid start going 2 nil up, I ended up losing 6-3.
