cpl league match

This week was cup week but as we're off to Yarmouth in 2 weeks, we re-arranged our match with Charnwood Club as both of us had already been knocked out of the cup.

I went on first and broke the balls lovely - apart from one not going down!! My opponent set off on a potting spree, but gave me 2 shots when his t-shirt touched a ball as he leaned over the table. From a difficult position I managed to set myself up for a pot, and then went on to dish them all up on my second visit! I also did a good clearance in the doubles, although we lost the fixture 3-4 in the end.

cpl league matches

Bit of a catch up, we've had 3 matches in the last 2 weeks!

31st August, Foresters [Away]
We were a player short for this fixture as Sarah was ill, we lost 4-3 in the end but had a couple of chances to make frames ours. Still not a bad result though away from home with a man down!

7th September, Linford [Home]
This week we had a full team out but Linford only had 4 players! They played well but we managed to win 4-3. The Linford are not only struggling in the league but also for players it seems, they have lost 4 of their team in recent weeks and are considering dropping out at the end of the season. This is a real shame as the Linford was the place I started out, my original team!

10th September, Oak IWIWT [Away, rearranged]
Well John and myself had joked that I would 7 ball Ian Geldard, knowing full well I would be lucky to get a shot againts the ex-pro, but he went in off the break. I cleared up all my yellows, needing some accuracy to get on to some of them, cued the black up, but it rattled out of the pocket landing safely on the cush. Ian did the decent thing and snookered me which I didn't get out of and the rest is history! So close but yet so far... and my 6 win run was brought to an end!

Won 30-14

This was a much better team result for us after the disappointment at Notts last match. Having said that we got off to a shaky start and Derby got the majority of their legs in the first 2 rounds!

I was a bag of nerves going into the match, and it showed as I proceeded to lose my first 2 frames - which hardly put me at ease! I did win my last 2 though so it wasn't a complete shambles, I've slipped into 2nd in the rankings but I'm still up there!

We've got a busy month in October away to West Mids on the 1st and away to Lincs on the 15th, with a social trip to Yarmouth in between ;-)
