top blokes

I got my first win on the board against Sarah by just scraping it 6-5 in a close deciding game, only to get beaten 6-2 by Matt Newell in my next match! I wasn't overly disappointed as I felt I had played well and probably should have had a couple more frames.

Last night however, I wasn't at all happy with my form in my first match, losing 6-1 to Rich Lewin. I just couldn't seem to pull off a decent shot! I tried to get that out of my head for my next match against Johnny Moore and even took the first frame. I ws 2-1 down when I had a dish on off Johnny's break, I cleared down to my last red and then missed the pot yet got perfect position on the black! I ended up losing 6-2 after that, only getting my second after he went in off the black. I had plenty of chances but just couldn't find any consistency in my game.

At the start of the league I had made it clear I was expecting to finish bottom but now I'm firmly rooted there I'm actually quite gutted I haven't done better!

County

Next match:
9th July, Shropshire [Home]

Last match:
14th May, Staffordshire [Away]
Won 25-19

Staffordshire is probably the toughest fixture of the season, they don't lose many matches and were even crowned National Champions earlier this year! But we dug in and pressurised them from the start, winning the first leg 6-5. We went on to win by a good margin and to say we are over the moon is an understatement! I got 2/4 which keeps me joint second in the rankings. Well done to all the girls!

CPL doubles

After a good run last season to get to the quarter finals, me & Sarah were knocked out in the preliminary round 3-1 by Mick White & Lee Liddle!

It's not been the best week for pool so far!!

World Championship qualifiers

I entered the qualifiers this year for the experience of the competition more than anything else but after going out 4-2 in the first round I was actually quite disappointed I didn't do better!

I would have played Sarah in the second round if I'd won, but she convincingly beat my winning opponent 4-1 to get through to the last 16 anyway!

I'm still hoping to go to the finals in Blackpool in June to support Sarah, who is in the World Masters competition.
