CPL League match

Next match:
4th May, Oak IWIWT [Home]

Last match:
27th April, Engine A [Away]
Lost 5-2

This is probably the toughest fixture of the season, playing god knows how many times champions Engine A on their own table! I didn't even get a shot in my singles after Wayne Freeman broke & dished!!! There weren't many chances for us and we were finished quite early for a Thursday!

top blokes

Well that's 6 matches played and 6 matches lost!!! I was beaten 6-1 by both John Doleman & Dave Wileman last night and although I am happy to at least get 1 on the board, was disappointed that a few frames I should have won slipped away with bad positional shots. Tactically I played well but as for the conviction... well it was somewhat lacking!

I play Sarah next week and as we are the only 2 to have not won a match yet, at least one of us will break our duck!

Lost 23-21

West Midlands showed a vast improvement since our visit to their venue at the end of last season. We got off to a rocky start but fought back well in the last leg, just to be pipped at the post in the last 2 frames. 4/4 and player of the match for me, I was very pleased with my performance today!!! Plus I will keep a good ranking going into a tough match against Staffs away next month!

CPL CTC league cup

20th April, Kings Arms [Home]
Won 6-1

A convincing win over the division 2 team from the Kings Arms, we actually won 4-0 but played the other frames anyway! Last 16 round to be played on May 23rd.

We should have won this match 5-2 really with Andy wobbling the black in the pocket and me missing a clearance with 2 on the black! I have the guy I played by the balls as well and still managed to lose! Very frustrating.

CPL League match

6th April, Engine DH [Home]
Won 5-2

First game of the season saw us drawn against Premiership newbies Engine DH. We went 2 nil up after Sarah made an brilliant colour clearance, snookered herself on the black, only to swerve the white round the opponents ball and pot it! By the time I went on it was 2 all but I won my game to take it to 3-2 and we finished strongly in the doubles for a good win.

Won 32-12

A good result for the team against an improved Lincs side which sees us go top of the league after Notts had their bye this match. A disappointing day for me personally though after only winning 2/4 of my games. I probably should have done better in the 2 I lost, but my game was lacking a certain something today. West Mids at home next match is only 2 weeks away so I need to get my confidence back up for then!

CPL top blokes

Last night I had my first 2 matches in the not quite so aptly named 'top blokes' league, now there are 2 'birds' in it! Unfortunately for me my debut wasn't all that rosy, losing 6-3 to Dougie Grieve after being 3 all and missing chances in the last 3 frames, and losing 6-1 to Darren Cato.

I entered the competition for practice above all else, there are some very good players in the league and I am completely realistic about my chances of being bottom at the end of the season, but I'll be back again next week to try and get a win on the board!
